For those of you who have ran your LQ rig across the scales, what did it weigh? I'd be curious of trailer weight alone, but the total is fine too, just want to know trailer size, length / number of horses, and truck size.
Thinking about changing to an LQ, and have a 2001 F350 with the 7.3, and I'm rated to 20,000 total.....
I know that the LQ weights vary due to size, wood type etc. etc. but looking to just get rough ideas.

Chevy 4500 with 150 gal fuel right at 11,200. 4 horse Cimarron 12' LQ, gen, fuel, hay, all tack at 18,500. Total of 29,700. Have the axle splits also, but can't remember them. Yup, a little over...

My 2007 Logan with the 8' SW Platinum LQ package with 4 horse weighed 15,000lbs. I always figured it weighed about 8,5000 lbs empty, I would load 2.000 lbs in saddles, tack, camping gear, and water. Add another 4,000lb in horses.
Include the 2006 F350 truck and I was just over the max GCWR of 23,000 lbs.

Exiss 14' shortwall 4 horse, I normally only travel with 2 horses, completely loaded up for a weekend trip trailer weighs in around 15400 lbs. That includes 60 gallons extra water for the horses and hay. The pin weight is just under 4000lbs.

Thanks for those who have replied so far. Amazing how quick the weight adds up. I bet more trucks are going down the road pulling more than suggested than the owners even realize.
I constantly suggest to one of our horse groups to go weigh their rig, so they KNOW what they have going on.
While I have a 20,000 (2001 F-350 with 7.3) pound combined rating, it makes me really consider what size trailer I could get that would keep me under that.

Durn right the stuff adds up quick. I ran across the scales with 3 horses, three people, stuff for a week of camping in a Sundowner 3H 4 foot SW valulite pulled by a 8.1 liter dually. No LQ, No water tanks, just camping gear & food for all, we totaled 17,000 pounds.

2012 Hart ,3 horse, 14 ft. shortwall. Trailer weight mt. 11,980lbs. With 2 mules and 14 bales of hay trailer weight is 14,880 lbs. Total weight 22,460 lbs. Note ,there was no h2o, tack, food, etc. in the trailer so adding 60 gal. h2o plus tack etc. total weight would probably be @23,250.

one thing that has been missed in this discussion is INSURANCE if you are in a wreck and overloaded it may be void and heaven help you if the DOT stops you. Our trailer and truck fully loaded weighs over 31,000 but we have it hooked to a 550 Ford and it is still a load in the hills, the trailer has disc brakes and that is a huge help in stopping.

The insurance is a huge thing if you had a wreck. I have a 4 horse 16'shortwall and 6' midtack tri axle and with the truck I usually weigh in between 48k and 50k with 3 horses but the lq is all hardwood no plywood or composites and granite counter tops which add up very quickly.

I have a 4 horse Lakota with 10 SW.Empty it weighs 8420.The heaviest I ever had it was about 14,000lbs.Had a 3800lbs Jeep in the back, 50 gallons of water and full black and gray tanks along with all the stuff you take on a two week vacation.Things improved once I dumped and got the water down to about 10 gallons.
I pull all of this with a 2500HD and for the weight police, I never exceeded my max tire load.
The way the trailer sits right now, winterized, full of propane and all the dishes and other things that will not freeze or spoil in side, it weighs about 8900 pounds. To go someplace all we have to add are clothes, food, a little water, and what or who we are taking in the back.

For those of you that are guessing triler weight I found a chart from one of the Mfgs. that says you can figure 385---425 pounds ber box foot on an LQ ours fits in the lower part of the scale.

I don't think the charts are taking into account the width or height of a trailer which can greatly alter their weights. We have an Exiss three horse with a 4' full LQ. It weighs ~5613# empty. This works out to 312 lbs per lin foot. The same trailer in a two horse, almost 3' shorter, weighs 300# less. Our Sidekick which has a 13' LQ, a mid tack, and is also a three horse, weighs 9827# empty, which works out to be 289# per lin ft.
Our trailers are 7' x7'. Trailers 8' wide and 7 1/2' high weigh considerably more, and may better conform to the chart. This is why it's difficult for one person to form an opinion based on the experiences of others. There are many variables involved in the weights of trailers, trucks and the livestock. They will include axle placements, trailer shapes and accessories, all of which will make their towing experiences, greatly varying from owner to owner.

Thats very true because my trailer ends up being a little over 700 lbs per foot and it is full width and 10 ft height which adds alot of weight
Don't laugh ... I met a guy with a Sundowner trailer with a 10 foot or maybe 12 foot height. (I forget) was a special for his animals... He hauled CAMELS.
