I find it hard to believe a cigarette tossed from a passing on a interstate just happen to be tossed at just the right moment to get into the window. I don't know what happened but the odds of it being a flying cigarrtte is a stretch...

This is just horrible. What safety precautions can be taken to prevent something like this? Screens on any openings? Hay wetted down when fed?I hope it is investigated as a crime, just to make sure that it was an accident.

My Bloomer has screens over ALL the drop down windows. They have zippers in them so I can access both the heads and the hips when I need to. I personally know someone who had a cig go into her trailer. Fortunately, she was completely empty. Another freind of hers was following her and called to tell her she thought a cig had just blown into her trailer. So, she pulled over, and there it was! She took pictures and said she sent the info to the trailer company and US Rider.
I need to make it a priority to get them on all the drop downs on the 4 Star, too.

Ever been behind someone at night when they thump a butt out the window....?? The wind will pick it up and carry it for a while. Sparks for days.... Seen several loaded trailers with hay burn up at different times from the same stupid thing. That trailer fire was in my fire distict, kinda glad I was away. I was at a show in Lexington, Va when this happened and the string of tornados that came through our area. We don't have any damage but there's plenty of siding, insulation, foam, church song books, etc. for us to pick up off the farm. We live in a area where the tornado lifted and dropped all the debris...... I'm about afraid to leave home after all the devastation in our area this past weekend.....

We don't haul our horses too far, but,we don't put hay in there for them when we do.I don't want it flying around and take a chance on a seed or piece of debris getting into an eye.I've had a blind horse before that had to be donated to a facility and don't want another one.Same for sawdust.I suppose shavings could ignite, also. This looks as though it might had open stock sides on it similar to a cattle trailer. What a horrible thing.I don't guess there was any time to open up the back and let them out, especially if they were tied or stalled in with partitions.Geeze,terrible.

I found the link with the trailer picture, looks like a stock type trailer with perhaps drop downs and bars on it.Man,that makes me sick just hearing about it.Rentinto, glad that you were OK,that storm system started just west of AR and traveled through here like a locomotive in no time across the state. When it hit here, there were no tornados spotted but,I don't see how.Winds were about 60MPH and trees were downed.

The story doesn't confirm the cause of the fire. Its a guess. It could happen but its also highly unlikely. I am not going lose any sleep worrying about this happening to me.

So sad, horses never had a chance.....
Not far west of us there is STILL wild fires buring because of someones butt being tossed out! Last guess they are talking about 60-k acres, unknow amount of houses, barns and churches and fires still going and the wind is not helping at all!

Littering here is a $1,000.00 fine..........and tossing trash out the car window is littering......especially trash on fire!! It is so much easier not to take a chance....

How aweful. I have seen cig's flying out windows at night and its scary. Been out of the loop at a ride. I overnighted Thursday night in Benton, Arkansas and Crowleys Ridge Girl I got a taste of that horrible weather there. Said some folks in Little Rock were killed when a tree hit their house. Glad I stopped somewhere and wasnt driving. Spent the weekend at Macks Pines on Hwy 7 in Dover, Arkansas at a CTR. Beautiful weather up there for the weekend.

I have friends that live near Dover.By far,the best place to ride in that particular area is at Falling Waters at Pelsor.some miles on up highway 7 is Jasper and the Buffalo River. That can't be beat. It's a pretty state, for sure--except in TORNADO WEATHER.second round of it tonight.

Well, something caused a fire to start inside the horse compartment of the trailer, and, undoubtedly the truck itself wasn't on fire first.So---what could it have been? lightening strike? Horseshoe striking the side of the metal wall and making a spark? Just sayin--.
