Anybody have a SMx VenTECH Comfort Stretch Chinch? was wondering if this would work in moutain type riding?
My mare has been cinchy since she was a yearling and I sent her to training for cart driving, the trainer over cinched her and she has been crabby about it ever since. Yes I have had the chiroproactor and vet examin her she is fine after you ride an hour and tighten the cinch she doesn't even flinch but when you first cinch her up I think she remembers her "first" expierence as a bad one and is crabby about it. I live so far away from any tack shop I get most of my stuff thru catalogs.

I do competitive trail distance riding where we ride 60 miles in a weekend and my husband and myself camp and ride all the time. We camp alot in mountain areas. I was having issues with my horse acting ouchy in the cinch/rib area. I have used neoprene girths for years but have now switched to a 100% Mohair cinch. The natural fiber of the mohair grips better so my saddle is more secure, even without being tighter. There is no heat build up underneath. Being natural fiber mohair has stretch, give and elasticity to it. It molds nicely to my horse's shape. I also centerfire my girth.

Don't know about the cinch you asked about, but I can tell you about english girths with elastic on the ends. They work fine for holding a saddle in place. I always use a breast collar. I do think the horses like the little bit of give the elastic provides.

I have always used real mohair girths since I was a kid that was all we had. I wish they made them with padded ends, I got some expensive cinch pad ends with the leather tie straps I don't like them they are to lumpy. I am going to google padded ended mohair cinch right now. anyway I went to neopreen with her she seemed to be less cinchy. most of the time I ride with a pretty loose cinch on her so the neopreen slides nice, no sores where mohair you need to be snug. thanks for the ideas

forgot where it came from (someplace in California??) - once got a beautiful mohair girth w/ padded ends. the only thing I didn't like was it didn't dry fast. you just have to find what works best w/ each horse. I rode my endur. horse w/ a neoprene girth w/ elastic on both ends. got it at least 15 yrs ago from Teddy at Running Bear Farms and am still using it.

The comfort cinch works well in all areas from the cutiing pen to the steep trails. It stretches with the horses movement yet holds in place so you will not have to cinch up as tight. I like it very much.
