Just wondering if anyone has experienced having people being peveed or jealous after they have bought a lq trailer? Have you found, experienced that some of the horse people that you used to get along good with, visit with, now don't even want to talk to you or act differently towards you. It is a bit weird, but I have experienced this a bit after I bought my unfinished Elite. I have also gotten told at a trail ride that if I didnt have a hobo trailer that I probably shouldn't even have it out there. It is like people are peveed off because of the trailer I have...

You worked for the trailer, it's your choice and I wouldn't feel bad about it. Others can do the same. I have heard many times over "must be nice to have XYZ". I work hard for what I have as I'm sure you do too.
Just ignore the comments or find another group of friends that don't care about what you have just as you shouldn't care what they have. It's about sharing a common interest and friendship, not material things.

I hear ya..I got one friend who does just as you described...after I got my trailer she kept making snide comments about " what did ya have to do to get that..." or "you are just one spolied little bit**" so at a trail ride over Memorial Week-end past..I had heard enough..and told her..if you want this kinda rig I suggest you get your lazy ass out there and work for it, just like I did"...she slammed her mouth shut and hasn't commented since.
All it is, is sour apples... if they continue to make you feel bad for your good fortune, I suggest finding a new crowd to ride with...there are alot of very nice helpful, polite, friendly folks out there to help you enjoy your new trailer... CONGRADULATIONS on the new rig......... HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU

I must be in the wrong location or something because it seems like there are more people who are that way then who aren't. Sort of reminds me of when a farmer buys a new tractor and then you have all the nieghbors talking amongst themselves as to how he could afford to get it ect...

I don't have a fancy rig, but know others who do have newer/nicer rigs. I have seen the jealousy from others. Don't worry about it. The thing is that the more time you spend on a hobby, the more you enjoy having the things that make it more enjoyable. If a LQ with running water is more enjoyable than a tent, then go for it.

Just the opposite for us, we have a lot of new friends since we have a toliet, cold beer, cabinets full of snacks, and AC :)
Ha ha. Yeah, a couple people I know have recently updated their rigs, and that's what they get, too.

wow- you need better friends. When I bought my trailer ( and it ain't fancy) my pals were very happy. They went on to buy their own trailers that were very nice and I was happy for them ( still am) I never noticed people acting differently just because of my trailer/truck or if i bought a new horse. Maybe you are a bit sensitive?

It is human nature, and,it's not your imagination, either. It's the way people are, check out some of the remarks made on some threads on here if you need any validation, which you probably don't.
Enjoy your rig. There will always be folks with more, and less.I was raised to consider that there are those with a lot less than I have and to be g r ateful for what I was blessed with.If you've been where I have,on the back side of cancer, you'll be glad just to be alive and able to enjoy anything much less comparing what some have and don't have.Maybe your chums need a different perspective on life and hope they don't have to get one the hard way.

Yes, there are those like that......they need a life. I have a nice middle of the road rig equipped well for me, I have friends who have bigger, and better (by far) rigs, I enjoy seeing theirs and they were happy for me when I got mine (a big step up from a stock trailer!) and my friends who had nothing as nice had mixed responses, some glad, some got one, and some have yet to see mine, haven't been to my house since I got it. I just over look it and enjoy what I have in the middle and try not to worry about the envy thing one way or the other! Enjoy your rig, and NEW friends, and be glad for any old friends that are happy for you....you earned it, and you pay for it, and you deserve it!

There will always be a few sour apples about stuff like that. I would just keep enjoying your rig and horses and wouldn't worry about it! It was your hard work and your choice to buy it, so enjoy!

There's another side to your coin. In some circles, penis envy, bling and status rule the various social circles. This is especially prevalant in various show circuits. If my LQ doesn't have a multi-level ceiling, crown mouldings, twinkle lights and a five foot tv, then I'm not qualified to even consider their group. An Expedition is not allowed to park beside a Navigator, nor an XLT beside a King Ranch. $600 belts, expensive tack and $20,000 horses are minimum requirements. Some people believe their success is dependent on by what they own and how they are perceived by their peers. They believe that if they spend more money, they are better for it. They will only purchase the newest and the best of the best.
There are others that have had little, scrimped and saved, and have upgraded to their present status. They value each of their possesions, and consider themselves very fortunate for their ownership. Their "new" trailers may be a few years old, their horses without papers, and they're more comfortable sitting on a hay bale with a beer, than sipping champagne in a 20' LQ. Their friends have equal values, and don't have to be bribed to share in their life's enjoyments.
Some people are jealous of others' successes, while lamenting their own present situations. They can't envision the future, and with work, what they can attain. They want instantaneous gratification and can't understand why they don't have the same possessions as their acquaintances. They resent their own situation by criticising those who have prevailed. They are jealous and petty.
Anyone has a choice of whom they want to consider for friendship. Bring within your group the people who offer you enjoyment, loyality and interest. Rid yourself on the naysayers, complainers and those who want entitlements. Life is too fragile and short to waste on people who do not share your dreams. Enjoy the fruits of your labours, and ignore those who do not.

I had just the opposite experience. When I got my 06 Sundowner with a 12 foot SW, everyone was very complimentary and loved checking it out. Also, one of the people I camp with a lot is now very, very happy because I let her use my shower! It's all about priorities when it comes to money...you spend it on what you love most. I don't have a real fancy car or a big huge house...but I do have a really nice LQ trailer that I love, and it was worth it to me to spend my money on it instead of other things. Everyone has to make their own decisions on what to spend their moolah on...
"I'm just a common man, drive a common van,my dog (horse) ain't got no pedigree if I have my way, gonna stay that way, those high brow people lose their sanity and a common man's what I'll be."

I agree with Gard and others- if the people you hang with are really being jealous about your new trailer and I mean are really being brats and not just your impression...then find people who can enjoy your good fortune. Now keep in mind that just because people are not raving about your wonderful new trailer doesn't mean they are jealous.Just keep everything in perspective...

I kind of found what Gard was talking about. I saved my money and bought my little LQ which is just right for me. It is not fancy, far from it, but has what I need and is PAID for. So, some folks I palled with thought I should get a bigger, better one...longer SW, 3 horses instead of 2 so *I* would be more comfortable and *I* could haul another horse. Of course *I* would be the one paying the note on it too! I politely smiled at them and said I was very happy with what I had, thank you. They can go right ahead and try to keep up with the Joneses, and I hope they can keep up the note!

Not looking for raves... Just wish the people around here wouldn't be so standoffish... makes it pretty hard to enjoy the local trail rides when people are that way...

Hi Nd Deb, I had a lady tell me something that has had great effect on my life & thinking. "Go where you are CELEBRATED not TOLERATED!" In other words, your friends are your friends no matter what...to heck with anything else. Enjoy your rig and horses :) I have an Elite too...aren't they wonderful!
