I have one question for all out there, why is it so hard to find a nice trailer with out breaking the bank, or having to literally take out a second morgage to pay it off? I'm at the point where I am ripping hair out! I have to get a horse trailer no if ands or butt about it, I have a business to run. But why is it so hard to find what you want? I understand that the economy sucks, but is really hard to get a good deal without have to go to someone shady! Sorry I'm ranting a bit, I have been looking for a trailer for a long time, and still can't find anything, what make it worse it that I don't have time to be patient. Sorry for all those who sat through this, but thanks for listening.

I think that depends on your prospective.  I just bought a new trailer and wasn't even looking for one.  Had the opportunity to sell mine to a friend that was a perfect fit for her family, and buy one that fit me better.  To a degree almost every trailer out there is custom built(hence the high price). You should be able to find the one that fits you.  Like I said I wasn't even looking for a new one and couldn't be happier with my recent purchase!!!!

I think you want someone to hold your hand. Stop whinning! You need to realize that it sucks for everybody out here right now and if you want freebees then you are in the wrong place. I hope your attuide does transfer into your business ethics or your care of your horses. YOu just have to accept that you have to jump into the debt boat just like all the rest of us who work for a living, sorry that daddy and mommy aren't there to spoil you anymore. Grow up. Wow that was really intense! Thanks for all your help "Gurl".  I've taken your advice to heart.  Since reading your post I have promptly called my parents and told them to eff off, euthanized my horses (and my clients! haha!  joke's on them!) and sold my crumbling business to the local amish, and extorting a ridiculous amount of money of them to fund my dream trailer!  I still managed to cripple myself with astounding debt like all the other hard working people, but I plan to get out of that by selling my child on the black market!  Taking serious offers only, this is NOT a freebie.

Not sure what to make of this two hour post.  I know a lot of business owners, and they worked long, hard years to get where they are, and they all went into debt to pull it off.  Risk vs. Benefit.

You apologized after venting so I guess you saw it coming.  If you would have come with specifics and were looking for a solution - you may well have found some helpful and very knowledgeable "business partners" here on this forum.  We all learn.

Sorry I was worried about specfics looking like a wanted ad. Im looking for a 4 horse LQ from some one reliable. I have dealt with two scams already, and that what's making me frustrated. I understand that I will have to spend some money, I just wish stuff was a little more afforadable. I just have been dealing with a lot of shady folks and that not cool.

I encountered sort of the same thing when I was shopping.Hardly any inventory new or used within a reasonable distance of me(2 hour or less drive) and what I thought was a HUGE variable in price.Plus a LOT of the sales people I talked to I found their knowledge of what they were selling to be for the most part very poor.I found that also trying to buy a truck recently. It was like I had to do ALL the leg work and pay THEM for MY effort. One of my big complaints was on new trailers no MSRP disclosed yet I was suppose to believe it was a wholesale price or a GREAT deal and such. Finally had a owner of a trailer dealer fax me MSRP(only one that would)with a sell price including getting it to me and disclosed EVERY penny it would cost with out fumbling about it or saying OPPS I forgot to add or mention. That was Ryan Holton of Ryan Holton trailer sales.Knew his products, prices etc.better then any one  I encountered over many weeks of shopping PLUS beat everyone else's price. I also think someone maybe the manufacture is making a KILLING off horse trailers compared to OTHER machinery. They sure don't take a top of class engineer to design or  build compared to tractors, cars.motorcycles, boats and such.

I find it difficult purchasing anything of which I'm unfamiliar, and in this high tech world, that rapidly includes many more products.

Horse trailers are relatively easy to understand. A non LQ trailer is nothing more than a big metal box. The only real wear items that require some mechanical expertise are the brakes and bearings. Worse case scenario is a total replacement at several hundred dollars. They will then probably last for the period of your ownership. Tires can easily be visually checked and the rest is routine maintenance with an oil can.

LQ's involve appliances and more expense. Most of the items are common across the market and can be serviced at various businesses. If you buy a used trailer, make sure everything works during the inspection. If an item doesn't work, mentally add the cost of a new component to your overall cost. If it's repaired at a nominal cost, you're ahead.

Many people don't like to consider used equipment, and will only purchase a new item with a warrantee. In my mind, a used trailer is an open book to the quality and durability of the brand. If a trailer is in good shape after being used for a few years, then it is one worthy of consideration. There is no way to determine the longevity of a trailer, when it sits resplendent in a dealer's lot. How many have had issues after the sale, and no satisfaction from the warranty? Certainly not all, but many indeed.

There are many used trailers available from private individuals. I have purchased four, and one from a dealer. The private deals were the easiest, the lowest pricing, and I had instant gratification as I drove away with the trailers. There was no financing, so those issues were avoided. I'm not knocking dealers, just saying that private sales of used equipment can work well.

Like anything else, you can be scammed by both individuals and dealers. You have to know what you're buying first off, what it's worth, and what the legal mechanics of the sale include before your purchase.

There are a lot of trailers out there for immediate sale. In an other month or so, you will find more used ones, as the show seasons starts to wind down and joblessness continues to rise. Do your homework and research what you want. Someone wrote: "Knowledge is power" With both you can obtain the trailer you want.

yes mam,

i understand how you feel.  there are those of us who have really nice trailers for sale worth the money and some folks, think everyone is a crook, if your trailer is priced so cheap.  my trailer i have for sale, is very nice, used very little, and we are on the up and up, our needs have just changed and we don't need a trailer like this anymore.  also we have been contacted by scammers as well.  my husband is in law enforcement and once he ask the right question, you know right off they are scammers, not really looking to buy.  you want to see a nice trailer for the money and is not a scam look at#217224

You want to know why you haven't sold your trailer? It's obviously listed in the wrong section. Trailer !!!!!?????????  It should be featured in the real estate section under condominiums. Do you take houses in trade?

What a beautifully equipped trailer!!!!!

Sissym,

You are right, that is a good price for that trailer. Good luck selling it with this economy.

My cousin has been shopping for quite a while too. What she has found is that the banks will only lend money on the BASIC trailer, no matter what other options it has. She has found several nice LQ trailers that were just what she was looking for, prices around $25-28K. But the bank will only lend $12-14K. And only for short term with high interest.
What do you do in a case like that??? She was told flat out that the only way to buy was new!

You need to have a bank that you develope a relationship with over the years and good credit. I didn't have any problem just borrowing 25K on a LQ at about 6.5% interest. But I have equity in my property and am not over extended either.

thanks guys for the compliments on the trailer.  we have lots of people wanting it, especially the ones who have seen it, they can't believe we have it so cheap.  maybe someone will be able to get the financing, credit is a huge factor
