We recently bought a place and was looking for source for a little extra income and was thinking on the idea of a Horse Hotel / Layover Barn.AND  RESCUE service for broke down travelers with equine,, ( we could of used that last year)

How many here have used or would use a place if it was available , we are just 10 miles off Interstate 80 in Iowa with several riding place with a couple miles to a hour drive.

 Thanks

I would use a horse hotel for sure and love the trailer rescue idea.  Here is a site you may want to check out so that you can get your place added to it should you decide to open the "hotel".

Good luck and happy trails.

We were on vacation in Tenn last yr and on the way home our truck broke down, (TWICE), we had several people stop to ask if we needed help . Two were horse people who helped out tremendously.. one lady stopped said she would stop back to check on us she had a appointment in another town, when she came back we were still there and she pulled our truck out from under the trailer hooked up and took it to her place and put our horse and mules up fot the nite, and would take a cent. the other guy who stopped and helped us out the second time was a re-tired rodeo guy with only 3 fingers on each hand, he got us going and helped get to next exit and stayed with us till our relatives showed up hrs later.

The other guy who helped us out in Louieville Ky took us for most we had, told me he was a ford tech and had me re-placing parts and just about burning the wiring up in my truck ,, after got the truck running (not from his help) he wanted paid .. Anyway a lesson learned again.

We are just now trying to justify purchasing another 8 acre ajoining our ( BANKS ) land to make it easier to fence in , get a driveway and a building put up...

Well any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

We would, we're listed in http://www.Horseandmules.com for this same reason. We've had a few stay and I must say is very rewarding. Have met some nice horse people. A couple of them we still stay in touch with, one couple we've become friends with going on 7 years now. We don't charge anything just like giving the blessing to others.
