Hello everyone, Just wondering if you have heard about getting a hair analyst done. I had one done on my horse in 2003 and it told me a lot. It even let me know that my horse was insulin resistant and that his whole system was out of sorts.Sorry to say I could no longer put the money into him. So I had to put him down. Please don't think bad of me I hated to do it. But it wasn't a month later in November my husband had a dissecting aorta anuresym. The same thing John Ritter died of. In fact John Ritter died in Sept. of 2003. And my husband had his in November of 2003. My husband did live. Well anyway back to the hair thing.Uckley's does it for 125.00 dollars. And they do human hair to. It is worth a try. I have another horse out of the same bloodline and I am going to have her hair done. Well talk to you all later.

well if you have a hair analyst done it will tell you what your horse is lacking in its system like maganese or different minerals. they sent me a graph and had talked to me on the phone for 1 hr. for a consultation. and told me what they could make up of the minerials and vitamins and different things they said since he was insulin resistant it would not fix the problem just help him. But i did not have 600.00 a month to put into him then. My husband surgery was over 400.0000.And you have a horse that is insulin resistant they usually founder which mine did and was not getting any better ,so i had to make a decision to put him down.

I really don't think as person needs a hair analyst done to find out if their horse is insulin resistant. Look at the causes, if your horse has a body condition score of over 6, and medical conditions that might cause obesity are ruled out, wouldn't take much to determine he needs a diet. If you can't guess the weight get a tape and measure.
