I'm a few years ahead of myself here, but my daughter and her friend, who both own and show their horses, seem to have great plans for their futures. My daughter has been looking into becoming a Commercial Airline Pilot and has been looking at the courses at the University of North Dakota, her friend wants to be a farrier and was planning on doing an apprenticeship in Scotland (after a year of schooling here (she's 17, my daughter 16), but was just wondering if any of you from North Dakota know if there are any worthwhile farrier courses at UND or surrounding areas, also any info on horse boarding facilities (of course where they go they want their horses to go!). Thanks for any info.

NDSU in Fargo has an Equine Science program, and many of the students board their horses in the excellent facility there. I do not know if they have farrier classes, though. Most farriers around my area have gone to schools in Oklahoma or Texas, and then done informal "apprenticeships" with an experienced farrier. Also, 20 miles east of UND is the University of Minnesota-Crookston (UMC), which has an equine program and a great boarding facility on campus. There are quite a number of private boarding facilities around the area, also.
