Hello Horse Trailer World - We are brand new to trailers, have not towed anything ever. We found a 2017 2H bumper pull slant load horse trailer that we love on this site, and plan to purchase it in the very near future.
It passed a safety inspection from a local reputable shop, however I found out that the mats were not pulled during the inspection so the top of the floor was not looked at. I will need to conduct an inspection of the aluminum floors myself.
I've been watching some YouTube videos and have found some information online to look for white powder and pitting. Is any white powder a bad sign or is there a tolerable amount?
The Seller recommended this forum as a fantastic source of information, so I figured I'd throw this out there. What else should I be looking for when I inspect these aluminum floors? How long should aluminum floors last?
I recently attended an information session on large animal evacuation, a speaker told a tragic story of evacuated horses falling through their trailer floor. This really hit home, and I want to do everything I can to avoid this.
Any and all information is appreciated, thank you.
