When purchasing a trailer with a factory LQ does the plate on the trailer that shows trailer weight include the conversion or is that pre conversion?

That is the pre-conversion weight. Prior to the LQ being put in. Most people don't realize that, they end up being under trucked...

At least with every trailer manufacturer that I can recall- the plate on the trailer is the weight rating, not the actual weight. It will be given in Kg and Pounds to satisfy both US & Canadian requirements. It is based on axles & tires and has nothing to do with actual (also better known as "curb") weight.

Some companies do weigh the finished trailer and post it on the Statement of Origin and sometimes on the LQ information sticker often located in a cabinet. Otherwise, if you want finished weight, head to a scale.

I have an Elite trailer order quote in front of me. It states to add #325 lbs per foot of long wall for LQ space, and 1200# per horse to get to the Estimated Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. Maybe that would help.
Good luck!

I'm gonna just GUESS here and say that factory LQ trailers would tend to plate the finished product if it's not going to a separate conversion company what would be the point of plating it before completion? Yeah, it's a guess. I have seen converted trailers list weights that could only have been before a conversion was done.

I've never seen an actual weight on the plate, but the titled weight is from the factory. My trailer is titled at 6700 pounds and finished weight is about 11,000, so the 325 pounds per foot of shortwall would be accurate.

I'm looking at a 4 horse, 15 foot short wall Lakota trailer. Factory LQ. It shows a GVWR of 20,035 and a trailer weight of 11,395. Should I legally be able to tow this trailer with an 06 F-350 diesel pickup?

Take the trailer (loaded with horses and everything you take) to a certified scale (truck stops have them), check the weight on your truck tag.... may want 30,000 GVWR tag, check laws in your state. I will honestly tell you that we recently sold an '06 F-350 4x4 dually with airbags and chipped.... had plenty of power, but NOT ENOUGH BRAKING POWER... it failed three times with horses onboard going downhill. Trailer brakes saves our a$$es. Ford dealer said nothing was wrong with brakes... we sold it, for great money (low miles, like new) and bought a small Kenworth with Cat engine, air brakes, and a western hauler bed with storage and compressed air and air jack onboard... we are over the moon and go anywhere easily.
