I have a 2014 Ram 2500 4x4 w Cummins diesel engine. Stock Firestone transforce at tires are all done at 19k miles.I live far north, I have always run AT tires for traction in snow and I'm often on dirt/gravel/ greasy fields.I've run BFG commercial traction tires on a 1996 Cummins, they lasted pretty well but, the 2014 is a very different animal. It's got traction control and waaaaay more power/torque. I don't know if the BFG commercials are a good choice or not.I've heard good things about Michelin LTX AT2 and they have60k mileage warranty which is nice.Recommendations requested! Tell me what you all like to run!

On my 2001 PSD F250 I loved finally kissing the factory Firestones goodbye and replacing with BFG Commercial TA tires that after 70,000 miles hardly looked used. Haven't had to replace the tires yet on the new truck but I won't hesitate to go back to the BFG Commercial TA tires. The first diesel was only 2WD this one is 4WD and a dually so I might have to make some changes but after knowing what great tires did for my last big truck I can't wait to return to the feeling in this one. (My factory tires are too soft in the walls for my taste, I like a tire that looks like it can handle the engine weight. Not to mention the improvement in steering I had on my last set.)

Totally agree. The BFG Commercials were great on my 1996 Cummins. They were less expensive than some other popular load E too. I had the "commercial traction" and I could go thru a lot snow or mud without needing 4x4.It's hard to select a tire for the diesel...many say commercial LT truck tire 10ply beefed up.....but not really if you're carrying a diesel weight and its torque and the trailer weights they are rated for. The Transforce tires are a joke. Put them on your golf cart thanks!

After my OEM Firestones blew out and almost killed my whole family, I switched to BFGs and never looked back. Very pleased with the prices, traction and wear. There are many forum members who have excellent results with Michelin tires. Depending on your availability, Cooper tires also have an excellent reputation.

Yes, I've had Cooper discoverers on past trucks and they performed very well. I actually just saw some on sale attractively priced. The 2014 Ram Cummins is so much more "posh" and high tech than my previous ride...1996 Ram Cummins. I just wasn't sure, with the increased torque, HO, traction control, TPMS, yada yada if there were any SNAFUs arising when changing tires. I've seen some posts on diesel truck forum regarding TPMS issues, but I don't see why that would happen if I go with stock identical size, load E, same pressures. The only neg I've seen regarding Cooper Discoverers is that they require quite a bit of weights to balance them...apparently some trucks it against caliper or something. The Michelin LTX AT2 seems to get many thumbs up. Pretty expensive though from what I am seeing.
