The electric switch. Generator to shore power. Didn't know there was Ats for propane. Do you know about the propane valve? I would be interested about it too.

I don't know the details of the propane transfer valve, I thought you might have been calling it a switch as some people refer to it as a "switch over". As to the generator transfer switch, I don't have any experience with one. None of my trailers have had a generator.

I have a good grasp on electrical work, so I was searching the internet to see what I could learn to assist you. However, there are so many variations of transfer switches, I don't think I could do you any good not knowing what "brand" if it even is one. A lot of the info I found seem to vary by who built the RV or if an off the shelf switch was used. Gard may chime in soon, I've learned he's quite the go to guy on here.

Hornet, thanks for searching the net to provide assistance. I too have a good understanding of electrical equipment and have a plan for replacement. The unit is a Progressive Dynamics PD5110010 120 VAC 30-Amp ATS. There is so many configurations dictated by the location it's not funny. I figured Gard may have some advice. The unit is located above the toilet behind the solid cabinet door. I will throw some healing on the trailer Saturday.Jg

I unsuccessfully tried to find a switch of that part number. I did find this one of the same company, rating and probably function:

https://www.google.com/shopping/product/16497529106254131950?q=Progressive+Dynamics+PD5110010+120+VAC+30-Amp+ATS&emsg=NCSR&noj=1&sa=X&ei=dJkaU_6CJoT70wGzlYDQCw&ved=0CEEQ8wIwAQ

Because the functions are the same; IE the switch automatically selects the available power source, the installation would probably be a remove and replace item. The switch will have a choice of wiring functions, so it's a matter of determining where to terminate the two available trailer power sources.

Getting access to the switch sounds more difficult than the actual replacement.

Best of luck......think Spring

For what it is worth, the ones that I have seen were wired to default to the shore power. If generator power was present, the electromagnet switched the contacts to genset input. So if your new one is different, the wiring disgram should show you how to wire this way I would think.

Old motorhomes often had a setup that was simple & worked well- inside the power cord hatch (the one the cable feeds into) there was a 30 amp recep which was the generator output. If you wanted to run genset, you simply plugged shore cord into the genset's plug, and there you were. If you wanted shore power, grab the cord and pull it out to campground's receptacle.
