I am trying to get a clear empty weight on an Exiss XT 314 with LQ. I am trying to be certain that my single wheel F350 6.4L turbo diesel will pull it.Thanks!

Don't know, they had to use a Ford F450 to compete with the Dodge and Chevy 3500's. :PKidding aside, figure out the max weight of the trailer loaded (should be on a 'sticker' on the trailer somewhere, may also have the trailers empty weight on it too), because you will load it with horses and gear. Figure out the trucks maximum tow rate and go from there. I'm going to say probably. Empty weight will only matter if you only plan to haul it empty and also tells you how much total weight you can load into it.

The Exiss 8413 has a 14 foot LQ that has 3 horse stalls.,  Which might be pushing your load rating for the SRW truck.

That trailer comes with Two 7000 lb axles.  If you had a full load of 14,000 lbs on the axles and 25% on the pin or about 3,500 lbs, your trailer total would be 17,500 which is over the  rated capacity of your SRW truck.

I didn't look, but if I remember right, The F350 SRW is rated around 15,500

Er, too late to edit this post. Somehow deleted part of a sentence. Should have read: Don't know, they had to use a Ford F450 to compete with the Dodge and Chevy 3500's on Top Gear. :P

So there is more to the equation than just empty weight plus whatever I figure we are hauling?

So, I finally was able to speak with someone at Exiss and they said the weight of the XT314 with LQ is 9,960. My towing capacity is 15,500. So my thought is that loaded up fully: 3 horses takes it to about 13,000, add people and feed - 14,000. Then saddles and things maybe another 500 which puts me at 14,500. So I've got a little to spare but not much (usually I'll be hauling 2 horses). Does this seem reasonable? Or am I too close to the edge?

We had the same truck. HAD the key word. We bought a new trailer 15'lq,4h and said it was 9k on the tag, but once loaded with some of our junk it was closer to 17k for the trailer and a total of almost 23k w/truck at the CAT scales. ***empty no horses or feed****. We could pull it no problem we were just very nervous about what it would be like it we blew a tire or if we had a DUMB A$$ cut us off if we could stop it with our killing our selves and the horses. So we decided to get a F350 Dually and we feel much safer and it does the job.

Unless they show you a scale ticket with that weight...I'd take that number with a grain of salt...

Personally I think there are to many ton trucks on the road pulling trailers they can't STOP.. will your truck PULL that trailer absolutely....can it stop it safely?  i've got an 00 f-350 dully... towing a Kiefer 4h 10ft LQ....scales had me coming in at a little over 21K with 2 horses.....I installed an exhaust break on my truck and still didn't feel comfortable stopping my rig.....as you can see below I upgraded trucks & wished I'd done it years ago!!!!....better stopping & a lot better ride on long hauls .... JMO

A dually will be a must. You will be over your tire capacity on the rear axle if you don't have a dually.

You are still under the maximum weight for what you can tow. But you need to consider how much of that weight will rest on your hitch and tansfer through to the trucks suspension and tires.

Again the usually pin weight of a GN trailers is somewhere between 20-30% of the trailers total weight. With LQ you re usually the highger % vs a empty dressing room trailer, So if you figure 25% of the 14,500lbs you calculate your trailer will weigh, You are at 3625 lbs. My 2011 F350 CC SRW truck is rated to carry 3580 lbs.  This number includes, Driver, passengers, any gear you throw in the bed AND the trailer pin weight. So you may be OK for towing weight, But will be several hundred pounds over on the payload weight.  So if you trailer is 20% pin weight, You will be under, 25-30% you will be over your rated capacity.

Among other trailers we pull, we also have an XT314 LQ. I pull with an '04 F350 DRW long bed 2WD with 6.0 and she pulls fine. Stopping in traffic is rough but I always try to give myself enough room. Girlfriend has an '01 F350 DRW short bed 4x4 with 7.3. Again, no issues pulling although hers just feels different due to engine and bed length. When loaded, and that's all tanks full, gear, tack and horses, we hit the scales right around 21,000. Not sure I would chance it with a SRW.
