I saw and inverter for a little over $100.  It is 1500 watts with a surge capacity of 3000.  General information would be helpful, like whether that's a good deal, whether that is just too little capacity, that kind of information.

Now, assuming that is big enough, or that I were to buy a bigger one if it isn't, could I run a small 110 refrigerator through that inverter while driving long distances.  So, the 110v refrigerator would be running through the inverter off the trucks battery.  Would there be a problem with that?

We had a weekender trailer before we bought our LQ.  My DH built the complete interior, and we opted for an inverter and a dorm-type refrigerator.  With our 2 marine batteries & 1700 watt inverter, we could travel a 3 hour round trip, and camp for 2 days.  We were very happy with that setup; both the refrigerator and inverter lasted the full 10 years that we used that trailer, even though we had read that neither unit would hold up to the trailer-travel environment.

Thank for your answer. I see that your inverter was a little bigger at 1700 watts.  Also, you used it a little differently, though that's a good idea - just run it from the trailer batteries during transit.  Then I could recharge the batteries with the generator.

I'm still interested in knowing whether it can run from the truck batteries so that the trucks generator keeps recharging the batteries. I think the problem may be a loss of power resulting from the longer cord, but maybe using a higher quality cord would prevent a power loss. I was thinking that periodic running of the refrigerator when the headlights are not in use might provide a nice little boost in the refrigerator.

I did have another name here before but it was pbranch with some punctuation or spacing or caps - I couldn't figure it out later.  I couldn't get it to work or couldn't find it so I changed it.

My recall of Ohm's Law is shaky....but 1700watts/12volts = 140 amps@ 12 volt

I suspect a small dorm fridge isn't much over 5 amps....600 watts

600 watts @ 12 volts = 50 amp draw.

Thanks.  That's good information to consider.  I did find a little more information online - I think I'll wait to find the right one rather than just buy one that's on sale - at least for the horse trailer
