I am shopping for a 2h little gooseneck with a simple weekend package 4ft shortwall.  I need to be able to pull it well with my 2003 Silverado LS with the 5.3L V8.

The Exiss ES 204LQ seems to fit the bill...but I can't find much in the way of reviews/opinions on this model.

Any opinions?  Other brands/models in this size I should consider?

Any advice is appreciated.

I have an Exiss 2H gooseneck with LQ. I pulled it first with a 8 cyl. Ram, then a diesel Ram, and now a 3/4 ton 10 cyl Ford. With all 3 it pulled like a dream. The only problem I have had with the trailer...it is a 2000...is one of the drop down windows fell off. The company replaced both of them at no charge to me. I have considered selling it because I no longer have a sound horse to ride. But the cost to replace it would probably be the same as what I can get for it! I love the little trailer and had lots of fun with it before my horses all quit on me.

The Exiss with a 4' short wall and Sierra weekender LQ, is a very comfortable space in which to stay for a few days. It is well equipped, doesn't add a lot of additional weight, and makes a dressing room sized space very functional.

A three horse Event unit only weighs #5600 and has an 18' box. A two horse would be less in both dimensions, well within the capabilities of many tow vehicles.

Most of the new weekender packages are built on the "Sport" trailer. While I haven't heard anything negative about its lighter construction, I prefer the more rugged Event series by Exiss. If you could talk Linda Y into selling hers, I'm sure you would have a terrific trailer.

Thanks guys.  I appreciate the input.  To have something to compare the Exiss to...I am having the folks at the 4star dealer in Weatherford work up a quote for something very similar with a LQ conversion by Outlaw.  They are local...and I've seen some really nice stuff by them.

That will at least give me something to compare.

Exiss is a great "price point" trailer but considering long term use and resale, I'd go the extra $$$ for the 4-Star package! Good luck on either!

Hi, Kwinter.  I had those guys work me up a quote on a 2h with 6' living quarters.  They even made the stalls a little larger.  It was a great layout and those folks are fantastic. This was the first of the year and the price was about $33,000.  I thought it was a fair price for a fully loaded custom two horse LQ!  Didnt get it tho,, a horse surgery got in the way

Hi Kwinter

Another really good quality trailer to look at is the Cherokee Tomahawk - they are priced well and offer excelent quality. The one thing that I like most about them is the fact that they have bigger than normal windows in the horse compartment - so it has good ventelation and is much lighter inside.

I have just purchased a 4 horse Cherokee with a rear tack and 56" dressing room which I am going to refit into a LQ myself. It costs $21000 new and a weekender package built by Outlaw wouldnt set you back too much. ( a 2H version would naturally be cheaper)

Might be worth looking into - there have only been good things said about Cherokee on this forum - so take a look at it. They are good looking trailers as well - which makes them even better. I would go for a Cherokee before an Exis, on pure build quality alone. I am not saying Exis is a bad trailer at all - just that I believe Cherokee is better. 4 Star is good - but their prices are a bit on the high side, if budget is a problem.

Cheers for now and good luck with your choice.

Let us know when u decide.

Hey Kwinter

Take a look at ad #154078 - it looks like exactly what you are looking for - and is priced well too. Nice trailer, nice LQ - let me know what you think

Cheers

Thanks for the advice guys...I'm really trying to do a lot of shopping before I decide.  The quote from 4Star is going to be a good bit higher than I'd hoped for what the LQ has in it...though I know ya get what you pay for most of the time.

Barfly...that Cherokee is nice...I don't know much about Cherokee...problem is that the trailer is in GA....I really like to see something in perwon before putting the cash on it.  I'll see if there's a dealer anywhere close (Paradise, TX West of Fort Worth)

Outlaw interiors are some of the nicest I have seen and I have heard AWESOME reviews from customers both about their work and their customer service. They are pricey though.
