I'm in the process of fixing up my 4' short wall horse trailer living quarters. I'm trying to decide on the type of lighting. For the most part I will be doing primitive camping over 3 - 4 nights at the most. I like the round recessed halogen lights but wondering if I should go with fluorescent instead. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated.

Halogen are power hungry and make heat fluorecent use less power but light is not so nice there are LED lights made in various styles use little power and give good light... hope this helps

Most all of the horse camping we do is boondocking. When I was looking into lighting I looked into LED, halogen and fluorescent. LED is really nice in that you get some light for very low power consumption, but you don't get lots of lite unless you install lots of fixtures. LED aren't cheap...yet.Halogen? Great light, lots of consumption.I settled on Thin-lite fluorescent.

If you are building them into the LQ, (recessed) the halogen lights have installation issues with heat. Usually insulation cannot be directly applied to or adjacent of these fixtures.
Led, florescent or the older bulb styles surface mounted are easy to install and have few limiting heat issues. Some florescent bulbs will not light off in cold temperatures, and may be a factor based on your usage.
