Has anyone been to Long C trails in Westmoreland, TN? We're thinking about checking it out next month. We've heard alot of good stuff about it just looking for some more opinions on it. Thanks.

We have been there twice and really enjoyed it.  It is owned by a Christian family and they encourage a family atmosphere...no alcohol allowed.

The trails are rocky with a mix of open fields and wooded hills.  There will be places where you have to open and close gates and some of the fields have cattle in them.  Some folks object to that...it didn't bother us.

The camp and bath house are very clean.  They do charge $10 for a small load of fire wood.  The second time we went, we took our own wood.  TN has had a terrible drout this summer...there may be a burn ban.  Check with Jack before you go to the trouble of hauling a bunch of wood.

TN hunting season starts late Oct. and several trails will be closed for that, so go before the hunting season opens.

Have fun and let us know how it goes.

RIDE ON!

Also...there is a WONDERFUL catfish restaurant just outside the little town of Scottsville, KY.  I can't remember the name of it right now, but ask Jack for directions.  It's only about a 15 minute drive from camp and well worth the trip.

The name is "The Catfish House" and it is great!  We love Long C and camp / ride there at least once a month.  Jack is very helpful and accomodating and runs a great camp.  The bath houses are always clean and the stalls are freshly bedded upon arrival.

There are some great views and many trails to chose from.

Happy Trails

I'm taking an inexperienced rider on this trip they'll be on one of my best horses that will take care of 'em, but is it too much for a beginner or will they be ok.

Do not take your inexperienced rider on the Peaceful Valley Trail.  The by-pass may be okay, it is a trail that winds through the woods and although it is not wide enough to ride side by side, it is not just one horse wide.  There is quite a bit of field and creek riding that can be done.

I've been to Long C several times and thoroughly enjoyed it also.  They have a clean bath house and a good campground.  They have several barns one of which is closer to the campground and if you get there early enough you can get stalls in that barn.  We did drink when we were there but always kept it in a plain cup or mug and kept things tidy.  There is a wonderful creek that if you go there in the heat of the summer is perfect to put a lawn chair in the creek and sit and enjoy.  Some folks would ride their horses down and others would drive down with their truck and bring chairs, cooler, etc.  They have two cabins to rent but no electric or water to either but the cabins are VERY VERY nice.  You can bring a generator for electricity but awfully noisy; plus the cabins aren't very close to the campground if you have friends camping.  Enjoy.
