Where can I find out how much a 1997 Sundowner, three horse, slant load, mid tack, full living quarters with it's own generator would blue book for.  Is there such a thing as a blue blook for horse trailers??

Thank you.  I'll see if I can contact a trailer company and see if I can purchase one or find out where I can obtain one.

THANK YOU AGAIN

NADA.com has Sundowners under the RV section of travel trailers. But their values are sometimes really low. Lower than market.

There is currently no official blue book for horse trailers.  We are a dealer and there is none available at the momment.  The North American Trailer Dealer Assoc. is currently at work on putting togethor a "Blue Book" for Horse trailers.  Until that is done the best you can do is look at other trailers that are like yours and see what is being asked for them.

Our dealer told us you can figure about a 20% depreciation the first year,10% after for a while (don't remember how long tho) and then it levels off for several yrs.

You can go to http://www.nadaguides.com/ , then go to Recreational Vehicles.  You need more details pertaining to model and options to get real specific.

Above is a perfect example of why a horse trailer "Blue Book" is not practical. Anyone with some common sense (banks excluded) would know this trailer is extremely undervalued. (This Sundowner trailer should sell around $30,000=/-.) We are not dealing with engines, dramatic body style changes, emission controls, fuel mileage, etc.,like vehicles. NADA has had Sundownmer and Featherlite trailers in there for several years and *(I'd bet a lot of money that dealers play dumb about this book for good reason.) This website has more than enough information to make a educated guess about most trailer values.

I think every dealer would love to have a book that sets the standard, then they wouldn't have to guess. Guess wrong lose the sale or have a boat anchor in there inventory. The manufacturers are the one's that don't want this. The market place would have the true values of these trailers a few years down the road. Trailer users would have a pretty good idea what there investment would be worth in the long run. I hope this natda group gets it done.

This "Book" is for lending institutions only. Experienced dealers and savy shoppers don't need to be held hostage to the opinions of some number crunchers or inexperienced dealers (that needs a crutch to beat up his customers with). About 4 clicks on the "trailer search" buttons on this site give you more info. than any "Trailer Book" could possibly ever have.
