I found probably 12 nice big fat white round worms, reminded my of oversized grubs in one of my horses manure piles. They were maybe 12 hrs old or so. None of my other 2 horses piles had them, just the one. Are they from bots or are they maggots or what?

Maggots look like fat little grains of rice....sort of like a little oblong cylinder.   Was what you saw round like a small coin, or round and long like bits of string?  Gross I know, but more description is needed...

might want to have your vet take a look or do some searching online- might be able to get a picture of horse worms.

Maggots are quite a bit smaller than you describe.

We have something that sound like what you described.  Do they curl up?  I took some into my vet and he said they didn't come from the horses and were big grubs and were in the soil and ended up digging in the horse poo.

This is what I was told they were.

Noncomposted manure piles can provide an ideal environment for the bumble flower beetle white grub. White grubs feed on decaying manure; however, these grubs do not damage home lawns. Therefore, there is no need to control them.

Your best recourse is to get some plastic zip lock bags and immediately pick up some fresh manure and then immediately get it to the vet for testing.  I don't believe the testing is expensive and the vet will recommend the best treatment.

Those are the larve form of june bugs.  They live in the soil and eat the roots of your grass/trees.  You should put down some seven dust or another broad spectrum pesticide that kills them plus fleas, ticks, and ants.

If you hdon't want to put down chemicals invest in some chickens.
