So the 2000 Hart trailer I just bought has some minor leaks. I'm assuming from the roof. 2 spots in the living qrts part. Another spot in the horse/tack area. The leak in that area is from the bolts they used on the hay rack. So I KNOW where that water is coming from.
The ones in the living qrts has me a bit worried. Its from the roof. But where on the roof is the hard part. So I think we are just going to re-seal/caulk the whole roof where the alum meets the fiberglass and around the bolts/rivets that are on the alum. The fiberglass itself looks great, no cracks or anything.
But I don't really know how to go about doing it. Whats the best or easiest way.
Also what to use since its on alum and fiberglass?

Well .. the easiest way is to buy an new trailer... Not many of us can go that route.
The best way is to remove the old caulk and reseal the area. Remember if you just put new caulk over the old, you're sealing the old leaking caulk. Not the trailer.
I would recomend this stuff rather than the usual silicon rubber.
The caulk is a moisture cured polyurethane. Manufactured by Sika Corp.

I'll agree 100% on the Sikaflex, it's really good stuff and looks like it'll last pretty much forever so you won't have to redo it in 5-10 years. A cheaper alternative is butyl rubber but it's not as good as Sikaflex is.

I need some help here as well.
We have a 2003 model Exiss 4 horse that we bought from the original owner last year. It was under a nice big barn when I bought it, it has also been barn kept untill about 6 weeks ago. During this first rain outing it leaked from one end to the other.
When I called Exiss they was helpfull even thought I was not the original owner and the warranty was out. They have mailed me some stuff *free of charge* called MANUS-BOND 76-AM self leveling. High performance Elastomeric Adhesive Sealant. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff. If it is no good then I would prefere to buy good stuff rather than spend my labor using a poor product.
I want to make sure that this roof issue is cleared up before I start converting the dressing room into a LQ.
