I often see on this and other forums people make statements that this trailer is better or has better craftsmanship. I'm going to buy a new trailer maybe at Congress. This Forum has so many people with so much knowledge. I just don't understand what they mean by the statements: Are the welds better, is the material better in one trailer from another, is the design better and why. I really want to understand. I plan on spending way more money than I should and don't want to regret my choice. Both of these trailers are on my list along with Merhow, Elite and Jamco. I want to stay with a dealer close to home incase I need help.

regardless what others say, the truth is that both 4-Star and Cimarron are quality custom trailers. They are different in many ways, but both trailers are made to last and both manufacturers stand behind their product.
4-Star has made many changes in the last few years and is not the same product it was 10 or even 5 years ago. I don't believe it is the holy grail of horse trailers by any means.
I think you need to determine what options and features are important to you and use that as your guide to the trailer manufacturer that will build the product you will like and need.

i have friends with 4 star trailers and they like them just fine..i personally have a 04 cimmaron with trailboss conversion 10ft sw.. cimmaron had a roof issue with 04 05 models they (the company not the dealer) is near impossible to deal with... so i myself would not buy cimmeron because i have had to deal with the company..their so called roof fix is to spread in which they did a coat of sealent on top to protect it from uv rays the roof panels are not holding up well...no extended warrenty just a slap of coat on it...we will see how that holds up.. good luck with your trailer search...while looking also consider the company behind the trailer in case of problems not just the dealer.... my dealer has had problems with cimmaron also trying to deal with them.... happy trails

Buying a 4 Star trailer on Friday.. 1998 4 horse, with a 4 ft shortwall.. Has a basic weekender package in it.. From what I have read 4 Stars are a quality trailer.. I had an Exiss before and will never in my life own another one.. Even if you tried to give me one I would refuse.. Thats no joke..

I have had both brands (currently pulling the Cimmaron) and I'm much happier with my Cimmaron then I ever was with my 4Star. I have found the Cimmaron to be excellent quality. The welds on my trailer are way better than the 4Star I had. I'm also very pleased with the drop down windown and built in bars. They all have grease zerks built right in. Another thing that sold me on the Cimmaron is the flooring system, I think the extruded aluminum provides lots of extra strength. A word about customer service too.....4Star was the worst (both the dealer I purchased from and the company itself). Had to fight with them about everything and never did get reimbursed for warranty work that we had to have done. Cimmaron on the other hand has been wonderful to work with. I sent my trailer back to the factory to have some additional things added to it. The company made sure I was happy before I ever left the lot and the dealer called me about 5 days later to follow up and make sure I was pleased. I puchased mine from Champion Trailer Sales in Tulsa and I can't say enough good about them.
