Someone stole mine off of my truck. I've been using my trailer so much recently, that I just left it on there. That was a mistake. I'd rather not have to go back to the dealership to get new ones. My coulper is rated at 7,000lbs. So i'm assuming I should get a ball mount and ball thats rated at 7,000 or higher. Am I correct in my logic? Is there anything else I should know before I try to buy one locally? TIA

ball size, the right drop, weight rating, and make sure you get it torqued right (1" shank, 250 ft lbs 1 1/4" shank, 450 ft lbs) is all you need to know. typically over 6000 pounds means a solid ballmount usually rated at 1200 tongue/12,000 trailer, grab a 10,000 ball and youre set.
