Oh my gosh I can not believe it is July in Texas and I am wanting the rain to leave! My horses are in horrible condition, the dogs pen is a muddy mess. Have moved them into the house...And I think the poor donkey has an abcess. She has never had anything but great feet!
I am a little worrid because we are having so much continued rain and our wonderful black clay soil....my horses go through mud over their hooves to get to the barn. This has never been like this until now...one horse has lost shoes and had finally won the white line battle and I am worried about him...Tomorrow we are going to clean up their legs and feet and inspect them all the best we can and leave them in the yard for a few weeks. Our yard is a few acres and seems to not be as muddy..yet...

I have sympathy for you. This kinda makes me think about the weather. It seems that the very absolute perfect days are sometimes far and few between no matter where you live. I know that I would like some rain, but I'm okay with out. I wish it wern't so dang hot too. But I was dreaming about the hot sun this last winter when there was 4 feet of snow on the ground. What can you do?!

HI ,Its wet this side of the pond too, yesterday was the first sunny day for about 4 weeks but our forcast is bad for next week we have sandy soil but its still getting muddy ,hope things improve for you guys real soon...

I know...yesterday was our first sunny day in Fort Worth in a long while. I hate to complain, though...the grass is sooooo nice and my horse is loving having something to chew on. Not to mention that the rain has kept the temperatures and therefore the electricity bill down! After last year's drought we sure are making up for it in a big way. Damned if we do and damned if we don't I guess. Just a thought-if you have muddy walkways from the barn to the pasture maybe get a load of gravel-I have done that in the past, it won't stay there forever but it will help for now!

I thought about getting some gravel or that road powder stuff but I think the heavy truck would get stuck getting on my dirt road. It is that bad....I love the grass too but some of it is even starting to rot. I do love the electric bill it was even less this month than last. I don't that has ever happened!
I know we will be wishing for rain soon. I really am not complaining just venting...LOL!

I'll take the rain problems any day compared with the drought that just ended. Don't have to worry about some idiot smoker throwing his cig out going down the highway and burning up the entire county, water well running dry, cows/horses getting stuck in the mud trying to get a drink from what little water is left in the center of the pond, buying hay from out of state, selling (giving away) livestock at the auction because you can't afford to keep and feed them, cracks in the pasture big enough for your horse to break a leg in, sandstorms, etc, etc, etc. One thing is for sure, when it quits raining in Texas it really quits raining. Keep it up rain!

I'm with you, Dwight! I'll take a bit of that rain our way too. Our pond is drying up a little more every day. I guess it's the "haves" vs the "have nots". Although too much can be just as bad as not enough.

My builder had the driveway ready to pour for 3 weeks and finally it was dry long enough to get it poured! Ardmore, OK area...yes I'm moving yet again and I sold my newest ranch.

Hey, huntseat- I understand they have some real dry property available out west. Maybe you could buy some of it around AZ, NV, UT, or CA. It's about what my area of TX was like up until just a couple of months ago.

We could use some of that rain you guys are getting. Everything here is brown. Hay will be scarace this year. This is the worst in my years of living here that we haven't had rains in spring /summer..Even our winters are getting milder...Boy is this world changing or what? We look more like SW Texas in July...

I feel for you. I remember a few years back when Mexico had the big fires. The smoke pollution was sooooo bad here in Dallas. It just dumb-founded me how fires in Mexico could so adversely affect our air quality all the way up here in Dallas. My friends and I would go to the top floor of the ER garage at Parkland Hosp and just be amazed at the what the surrounding area looked like. Wish I could send y'all a "gully-washer".

PLEASE do a rain dance for West Michigan...we are in a very very very bad drought. We normally don't start throwing hay out in the pasture till the end of September and we are already starting to use our fall stockpile...uggg.. I am dreading August!!!
