Haven't been to Buffalo but know some folks who have and they really liked it.  Trails are rocky so be sure your horses have good shoes.  And be prepared for lots of horse and deer flies.  They really seem to be bad this year.

I heard the've been clear cutting and some of the trails are being rode on.

I have been using the Easy Boot Epics for about a year now.  I really like them and they are much cheaper than shoes and, obviously, less invasive.  Don't get me wrong, some of my horses need shoes full time but the ones that have really good feet really benfit from the boots. I found it took some time to get the fit just right. I had to try a couple different sizes. The first time you put the boots on they will be a bit stiff. Whatever you do, DO NOT PULL ON THE GATOR, it will rip right off. I actually had that happen when my horse jerked his foot away from me while I was holding it and it ripped right off. Fortunately, it is replacable as are all of the parts on the boot. You may have to work it up after you get the boot on, but don't use it to pull the boot on. If your horse does not have really good heals, I would recommend cutting down the strap that goes around the back of the boot for the heal. The best way to do that is to take it apart and use a heavy duty sheer to cut it.

I have only lost a boot once when we were cantering through some deep sand and the gator kept it on the horse so I didn't have to hunt for it. Be sure to take a tool along with you when you ride that will allow you to remove the boot easily if you need to for some reason. When the lever on the front is adjusted properly it will be very tight. I have a multi purpose hoof pick/screwdriver/etc tool that packs easily and is strong enough not to bend when I use it to lift up the 'lever' on the front of the boot. I find it best to hook under the cable close to the 'lever' and lift from there. The boot can fit very tight on some horses and can  be hard to get off which can be a pain if your horse isn't patient and/or you are not very strong.

If I could use these on all of my horses, I would. They are great. I also have a friend who used the Old Mac's in the Big South Fork and she said they worked great even through the mud.

Hey! I just went to the Memorial Day ride and it was so MUCH fun. We always have a good time there. I have been to buffalo river trail ride like 3 or 4 times. Def. carry your bathing suit and float down the river. If it is an organized ride.?.?. get ready to dance your pants off on saturday night..    They have a live band and it is GREAT!
