does anyone know much about Hard Labor Creek state park?  I'm meeting several  friends  there in July.  we'll celebrate my 50th (gasp!) birthday and have a reunion of old endurance pals.   should be fun camping, riding, and telling stories.

It is a nice RV park wth level sites and a well maintained bath house. There was a pinic table, fire ring and lantern post at each site.  Sites are mostly in the trees so it was hard getting satellite reception for some of the trailers. Horses are not allowed at your campsite, not even to saddle.( Also in the camping area are non equestrian campers.) There are 2 large shedrow style barns with stalls on both sides. A large gravel parking lot is at the end of both barns. There is also a riding arena near the barns. They had inmates there cleaning stalls every time we were there so it was appropriately named .The trails are easy to moderate with a  few moderate climbs. Nothing major. Most of the trails just go around the lake. We always ride it in the winter so it was always pretty muddy in places. There is a quaint little artsy fartsy town next to the park. Coming from the south. One trailer in our group drug tanks on the RR tracks there. Beware and approach them carefully.

We enjoyed it and thought the trails were nice especially if the horses or mules were tired or not as fit. Did I mention there is alot of MUD in the winter time? We will probably plan to go back next winter again.

We went in June a few years ago and actually stayed in one of the cabins as we didn't have a LQ trailer.  We cleaned our own stalls and I do recomend bringing shavings as they needed it.

Rutledge is the cute town and they have a nice resturant that is worth checking out.  Nearby Madison is a really nice town as well.

We got lucky and had great weather so the trails were all in great shape.  There are friendly deer everywhere especially in the camping area where the cabins are.  It was a couple mile drive to the barns from the cabins, but the campsites are very close to the barn.

Can't add much to what was already posted.  It's good information.  Hard Labor park is where we first went horse camping with a rented bp trailer almost 20 years ago.  Slept in a tent and enjoyed the trip so much... We've ended up with a farm and GN horse trailer with most of the comforts of home away from home.

And ... a wealth of trailer knowledge from all the mistakes I made..

PS... There was a golf course that was part of the park... Something for the non-horsey SO.
