Hi everyone- I'm thinking of buying a friend's 2001 Shoop trailer. It's in great condition, but my only concern is that I can't pull the mats up to check the floor - it's like they've been nailed down or something. If I used a screwdriver or something with leverage, I can sort of lift up one piece, but the sides are permanently attached to the floor. Any idea what's holding them down or why they're like this? Thanks!

Why not ask your "friend" how he, her ,them or they pulled the mats out when they washed the poop and pee out of the trailer. I'm sure they must have pulled the mats and washed underneath! Then left the mats out to let the floor dry properly after giving it a good bath! Does this Shoop have a wood floor, and steel frame? You may want to take a good look underneath the floor, inspect the wood and the trailer frame before you make any kind of a "transaction"! You may find some suprises underneath if the mats are nailed or glued to the floor.

I've heard of people trying silicon and things like "liquid nails" to glue the mats to the floor, also to run beads of it in the seams, sort of WERMing with the mats they already had. Done properly, maybe they don't ever NEED to be taken up ?
I've had horses (not mine) kick up so badly that they got the mats out of place and all ruckled up, so I can understand the motivation.

Nope, they're definitely glued down or something... I doubt my friend would take superglue and cement the mats down to prevent me from looking at the floor. ;) I'm going to call Shoop and see if they can provide some insight.

Check the edges & seams/joints between the mats.
If they look as if they have been caulked then it is a fair bet that they have been glued down in an attempt to (DIY) WERM the floor with the existing mats. I know someone who did it in her conversion barn that was on a concrete slab, she moved before they got anywhere near worn.
