I have noticed last week when I drive my truck without the trailer hitched up, my controller box has been lighting up with the numbers. It usually would just have little dashes that light up when the trailer isn't hooked up. But now the numbers are lighting up like I have a trailer plugged in.
I checked my plug receptacle to make sure there is no ice or snow in there.
I will have to take it in on Friday (day off), I won't have a chance sooner.
Any idea what's up?
I used my trailer 10 days ago and the brakes worked fine.

Howdy!
I could be as simple as a bad ground wire, (we do live in the north) but having said that it could be bad wires at your plug. There is alot of different things that can cause this problem. I have seen bad controllers that are only a couple of weeks old. Ihave wired and rewired alot of trucks and trailers and now tell folks who come here that I will have to have thier truck and trailer for a day, and then I replace the old wiring and install new.

Place that sold/installed the brake controller 20 months ago looked at it today and seems to think it is the "brake switch". I am going to get a new one from the Ford dealer and then the trailer place will install it for me on Friday. Should be inexpensive if that's all it is....
