What would you think is the best light 2 horse GN trailer? I don't want to spend more than I have to, but I would prefer having a GN slant load rather than a bumper pull. I am driving a 2007 Ford F-150 4x4 5.4 V 8 which has a 6.5' bed. I am concerned about both the weight of the GN tongue and the rail clearance with the short bed. Thanks for your suggestions.

That would be an all-aluminum Silver Star but we hear they're not in business right now.

A real shame.

You should have no problem pulling a GN with your truck check out Bonded Trailers in Denton they sell a Cherokee trailer that pulls great and have the best customer service around.

Hawk and Trailet are aluminum skin steel frame so they are probably heavier than most all aluminum and that was one of your concerns.

However, I do like the construction of Hawk trailers and they will let allow for custom options. There's an excellent article about them on the website.

You really shouldn't think you need an Aluminum trailer.  If you find two trailers equipped similarly one steel and one Aluminum, there will only be a few hundred pounds difference...I'd say less than 300 for a two horse.  You'll only see a notable weight difference in the five horse and bigger.

I'm going to recommend a Hawk or Trail-et, it'd be helpful to know where you are located because some brands are very regional in availability.

I'm a native North Texan and that's great for finding horse trailers...just about everything can be found easily.

Take a drive around and do some window shopping, and there are great used trailers out there too!

With your short bed truck, you should consider a V nose on the gooseneck trailer to eliminate interference with the truck cab on tight turns.
