i was if anyone with 06 dodge mega cab with 6 speed manual has any problem backing gooseneck trailer. my truck seems to jump up and down real bad in the rear end. it does not do it with a bumper pull trailer only with gooseneck. i was wondering if i put a hitch extenter on the trailer that this would help . if someone could help that would be great .

Hi and Welcome to the Forum.
I don't have that truck, but the symptom could be independant of the truck make/model/year.
Are you using any brakes at the time it does this ?
Are you still letting the clutch in ?

I have a SB in my F250 ext cab. I towed my 24ft 5th wheel but felt uncomfortable when turning.Always looking over my shoulder to see were the trailer was when turning... So before I hooked up my GN I installed an extender hitch. Have no problems now can turn as tight as I need to. I would suggest getting one. Cheaper than a body / glass shop.

They have wheel hop or another term is axel wrap.The 06 6 speed had got a lower reverse and 1st gear compared to my 03 but the issue is still with them.My 03 does it also.A extender on the hitch will NOT help this issue.

I had the same problem with my '06 Ram 3500/extended cab/manual transmission.
Turned out, the brake on the trailer was stuck on. The truck idled it forward in 2nd gear, smooth as silk. Left 5" ruts in my lot to prove it. When I backed the trailer, I realized the brakes were stuck because it hopped as you've described. Check your pins on your electric hookup. Sounds like your brake and constant hot wires are crossed. Easy to fix.
My truck is 2 wheel drive. 4x4 put the bed rails of the truck too close to the trailer for the uneven terrain on the farm.
