Hi every one, I'm here out of desperation. I'm a not so proud owner of a 1995 featherlite 3 horse slant. It needs a new or used light housing that lights up the plate!   the cover is some what egg shaped and says dominion auto 70-4818.

please help if you can!

I would recommend calling Featherlite's corporate headquarters at 1-800-800-1230. Have your model number and last 8 digits of your VIN and ask for parts. Hopefully, they will be able to help you as they will sell direct to the customer. Hope this helps

Welcome to the forum ...

Is this light, the one over the license plate?

If so, just got to an auto parts store and purchase a new plate fixture.  It will be less trouble and cost.  Look in the trailer parts section.

I was trying to avoid botching this project since it is rivited to the trailer just above the door, but if I can find one that fits flush against the trailer and will cover the existing rivit holes. Then I can mount it and seal it with some clear rtv sealant

Absolutely... It is an easy job.

1: purchase a suitable light fixture.  If you can get a light that has the same rivet spacing great!  Otherwise, get one a little longer.  It'll cover one of the old rivet holes.

2:Use a drill, to take the rivet head off the old light, Remove the old light.

3: Clean the mounting surface to bare metal.  Dab a little "Nolox" or aluminum wire compound around the hole that will ground the light. This is important long term.  After a few years, the aluminum oxidation will cause the ground  to fail, and you'll have to do the whole job again to fix it.  Nolox prevents the aluminum from oxidizing and keeps the electrical connection clean.  That's why electricians use it for aluminum wire.

4: splice the wire to the light

5: attach the light to the trailer with rivets, screws, bolts, or what ever you choose.

You are done!
