We are thinking about going to Natchez Trace next year for a vacation. Has anyone ridden here and would you recommend it??  How is the campground there. Any information would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Go to http://www.tennessee.gov/  and on the first page there is a link to state parks.  We camp and ride there quite a lot as it is only about an hour from us.  The wrangler camp is very nice with an assortment of spots;  mostly in the shade in summer.  It is first come first served so you might want to make sure there is no fund-raiser scheduled for when you want to go.   If it is a time we are going, pm me and we'll save you a spot.

The trails range from wide sandy fire roads to some serious up and downs.  There are many loops so you can stay out as long as you like without having to double back.

It's a great place to ride. We camped there at Wrangler's Camp last Thanksgiving. The trails are quite nice. There's a good trail map from the camp host. See if you can get someone to direct you to the "Snowy River Trail". It's not on the map. Most trails are well marked and vary from very wide- jeep trails - to narrow one horse trails through the woods.

Enjoy. We did.

We love this park but haven't been able to ride there since back in the spring. It's very nice there with lots of trails and good bath-houses. Something that you may wish to consider is the organized rides that take place there. I work every-other weekend and during late summer and fall they have had organized rides there for the last three times that I had intended to camp. The organized rides are great there but the facility fills up quickly leaving nowhere to camp. Most local people there set-up tents early in the week(Monday,Tuesday etc.) to reserve their spots for the coming weekend ride. There is an overflow area at the equestrian center for those that have no place to camp but there is only two places for water and one place with electric and it only stays on at night. With that all said,it's a really nice place with a family atmosphere, Just make sure to call ahead and plan for an early arrival if there's an organized ride and if you want a spot! By the way, they don't take reservations so you have to show up early, set up a tent and pre-pay for the spot that you want when there's a ride.
