I take mine to the local car wash and pressure wash..I never use the soap..don't want to irritate horses skin..just rinse sometimes it takes a few quarters..and don't shoot too close to the blanket, ya don't want to destroy your blanket... and then take home and hang out to air dry..to avoid bleaching I try NOT to hang in the sun..maybe in the barn...depending on how think blanket is..it may take a few days to dry completely..

What I have is not a wool blanket, it is a wool felt saddle pad, like the ropers use. And it is getting some buildup in the should area, and I wasn't how to clean it. Some of the catalogs say to use a special cleaning sponge, but don't know where to find one.

I have a wool saddle pad. I usually brush off most of the grime then spray with the hose or I have use the power washer on it and just let it drip dry. Comes out pretty good, I don't use any soap on it.
