I have a little two-horse Morgan Built steel slant - LOVE IT. 

Anyway, any advice on the best way to get at the underside to inspect, power wash and touch up the paint?  I've thought of taking it to a mechanic shop and having it lifted so i can get to it.

I am not joking (some feel I don't take anything seriously) when I suggest the following:

Pull the trailer on to a concrete driveway, add warm day, teenagers in swimsuits, garden hose with highpressure sprinkler head.  My son did ours for us last summer and probably will again this weekend.  After it dried off I got under and inspected.  He had a good time, I stayed dry and got a chance to check that everything is OK under there.  I didn't see a need to power wash.  Your situation could certainly be different.  Good luck.

When I wire brushed and painted mine, I pulled it up onto ramps.  I had to crawl under there, but I had room to work.  If you take the floor boards out it makes it even easier.  (If you have a reason to do so.)

Wait, actually I backed it onto ramps, so I could unhook the trailer and it was more stable.  Especially with your two horse, the front axle may be too far forward to safely unhook the trailer with only the front tires on ramps.
