I am in process of planning my homemade LQ. This site has been a Godsend! So many of you are sooooo talented. I, on the otherhand, don't know either end of a power tool, so...I'm learning ;)
I am planning on putting in laminate flooring in my trailer. It's fairly affordable and looks fabulous. I bought some on clearance from Home Depot. Now, the floor of my trailer is wood. The wood is brand new this year and in good shape.
Should I insulate it with the same stuff I'm gonna use on the walls, or should I use the insulation particularly designed for laminate flooring (looks like plastic sheeting with little styrofoam bubbles stuck to it).
I'm worried about moisture getting up through the boards into the LQ, so might want to put in some sort of barrier or plastic sheeting first?

Is the wood that is down now the 2 X 12s that are the actual trailer floor? If so, I think I would put down a thin sheet of the foamboard insulation sheets with the foil backing first. (for heat, cold and noise insulation.) Then put down a thin sheet of the OSB, then the plastic sheeting, then laminate. I don't know, maybe that's over kill!? Have fun, I'm working on mine too!

Thank you for your reply! Yes, it is the actual trailer floor that is the wood I'm talking about. I'm putting my LQ into the front two stalls of a four horse, so it's not built like a regular tack room. I am very concerned about moisture getting up and through and ruining all my hard work (and $$$ spent!) so I think I might go with your suggestion. I think it may raise the floor significantly, but I can always put a quarter dowel or something at the end and just pray I don't trip over it :)
