I have 2012 F-350 dually that has the onboard break controller. It seems to be slow and has to be at level 10 to do an adequate job of stopping our living quarters horse trailer. Trailer weight loaded is approximately 15K. A friend put on an aftermarket controller and has much better breaking. Seems to engage immediately vs the longer than a second delay for the built in one. First question, is the DirectLink promoted by Mr. Truck compatible if you don't have hydraulic breaks? Secondly is there a way to disengage the onboard computer alarm that tells you every time you start the truck that the break controller is disconnected?
Thanks for the help.

When was the last time someone jacked the trailer off the ground, then crawled under your trailer and adjusted the brakes....?? Controller works no better than the brake shoe adjustment.

Same problem here. Adjusted the brakes, and also tried the backing up. Works fine hooked to my 97 ford with installed controller, and not good with 16 dodge with built in controller.

If you have Dexter Unit... Adjust the brake shoes out until the pressure of the linings against the drum makes the wheel very difficult to turn. Note: For drop spindle axles, a modified adjusting tool may be necessary. 4. Then rotate the star wheel in the opposite direction until the wheel turns freely with a slight lining drag.
