Someone earlier said about putting timbrens in instead of air bags. How does the truck ride when you are not hooked up? I have heard from 2 different people and been told 2 different stories? One said they don't change the ride and the other said it makes the truck very rough when your not hooked up.

I have had them on 2 Dodges and when not loaded they ride the same, the only time they ever work is when you are loaded and then they do not effect the ride, all they do is level the truck..

I put them on my truck and if you look at how they actually work, you can see that when correctly installed, it would not be possible for them to affect the unloaded ride. I would recommend them due to price and effectiveness.

Thanks for the information. When I talked to the one guy that said they made the truck ride rough scared me.

The resulting ride will be affected by how the Timbrens are installed. If a space is allowed between the cone and frame, the original ride is unaffected. The larger the space, the more the original ride will remain the same. If the Timbrens are spaced close to the frame, any time a bump compresses the springs enough to engage the Timbrens, the ride will stiffen. I have mine set, so they only contact the frame at the same time the original overload springs come into play. The result is that the original ride is maintained until just under a ton is loaded. This has been successful for many years. After an initial ton is applied, the suspension will not noticeably deflect, with the Timbrens supporting the additional weights. We're very pleased with this installation.
