Will someone please tell me how to determine what type of hitch extender I need for towing a bumper pull with a cab over camper on the truck? I have a F250 short bed and need to keep the tail gate down to accommodate the light weight pop up camper. The trailer is a Circle J two horse slant with a tapered nose. Thanks.

http://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Hitch_Accessories-sf-Hitch_Adapter-... But note any hitch extender you use will DRASTICALLY reduce your GTW...and some vendors like Blue Ox will state Note: This hitch extender is designed for using hitch-mounted accessories or for flat towing only. Do not use to tow a trailer. Using this extension will reduce your hitch's tongue weight capacity by 50 percent.

You can also purchase some 2" square bar stock, ease the edges with a grinder, buy a new or used head and have it welded together, after first determining the proper weighted ride height. When we had truck campers and BP hitches, this was necessary. I was able to have the hitch assy finished for $60. As Paul has indicated, the hitch weight capacity is reduced by the additional length of the addition. We installed Timbrens because of the camper, which also resolved the weight/stability issues.
