I do cowboy mounted shooting. I have a shoot this weekend and was wondering if it is safe to run the furnace while traveling because the temp. is in the low 20's. We are shooting at an indoor arena. We usually don't travel with the horse trailer when it is cold.

Keyword "Safe" not can you or have you. It is not safe to run anything off gas when traveling. Good luck at the shoot.

The furnace will not vent properly possibly causing a carbon monnxide buildup in the LQ. A few years ago, a well known trainer from Texas lost his son and a friend from carbon monoxide poisoning because the furnace was left on while going down the road.

You probably will not be needing the water so just winterize your lines. We have hauled with it cold though with no issues. Went camping with 6 inches snow on the ground and went over a pass and it was 17 degrees on top. Trailer was toasty warm when we left the house. Maybe we were just lucky. But you could blow out your lines and use bottled water for drinking and wet wipes for cleaning up from riding.

The furnace will not keep your underbelly pipes very warm. I would be concerned about the POSSIBILITY of a fire due to the drafting effect on the furnace while towing.
