Have done a couple searches with not much luck so not sure if I am asking right. Is there a rule of thumb or a standard for gooseneck height/clearance over a standard pickup box? Or does it go by trailer level, a  combination of both or ??? Thanks Tim

start with trailer loaded and level, on the new trucks if you have over 6" your lucky both of my Dodges have a little less than that and I have no problems but I do watch for big dips and you do have to be watchful. Only other thing you can do is have a flat bed or block the axels for more clearance.
