Hi Everyone,Just wanted to invited you to check out our blog for the Friends of Shimek. http://friendsofshimek.blogspot.com/ It'll tell you of the happenings at Shimek, with the Friends, maps, closures and much more. Check out all the tabs and past posts. We had a terrific year last year with 47 volunteers having a total of 841 hours worked. Our biggest projects last year were building a new horse shelter and a Wet Weather Trail (WWT). Currently in progress is another new horse shelter being built and hopefully with funding, we'll be replacing the last shelter later this summer. Also last week we placed maps throughout the trails.New for this year are new rules during trail closures that are on trial. In the past if the trail are closed, all trails are closed to riding. We now have a chance to keep our WWT opened during times it's too wet to ride all trails. If it's found when the WWT is opened and all other trails are closed and trail rider continue to ride all trails, then it'll go back to all trails closed, no riding. So help spread the word to keep open our WWT during wet times so we can continue to ride. Thanks!!
