I do not have a spare tire for my trailer. No rim, no tire.
How on earth do I go about getting one? I do not believe I can magically call my local trailer supply place and say "I have a horse trailer I need a spare tire for it" and they will have one.
Do I give them the tire size? I'd like to know how much cash to take with me ....

You will need to know the wheel diameter and width, along with the number of studs and their diameter. Depending upon your trailer, some truck rims available at a junk yard will fit. The various sizes can be found on the tire's sidewall, the studs can be counted, their size can be determined by taking a wheel nut to be measured.
Many trailer dealers stock spare wheel/tire assemblies; unfortunately you will find most are Chinese. They are available if a junk yard can't provide what you need.

just look on your mfg plate, ie ser. no. plate, and all info re tire sizes should be on there. Then look at a mtd trailer tire and count no. of bolt holes, will be 8 or 10 then go to tire shop by north American made rim and tire... yur good to go....
