Hi all. My trailer brakes make a noise when applied and again when released especially when backing. Is this normal? The trailer is new and it sounds like something is loose but it happens on all four wheels. They seem to stop the trailer fine. Thanks.

If you have electric brakes the noise is normal.  It's caused by a magnet being attracted to the side of the steel brake drum.  The magnet in turn pulls a lever that applies the brake shoes to the brake drum.  If fact, when the brakes are off, you should hear a slight scraping sound as the maget slides on the brake drum being rotated.
