Hi- I have been dying to get a new trailer, my little sundowner has some rust and is too small to put my pony medowbrook cart in. I Hope to purchase a Kiefer Built Eagle 3H PT 2006 but wondered it I was too heavy to pull with a normal Titan by Nissan. Anty thoughts on this trailer too, would be appreciated. I looked at the new TITAN trailers, but would probably rather have a Keifer, sundowner or feather lite. I thought about the CM too, but I worry about the rust factor in NW Indiana-TIAPat

Find out what the trailer weighs and see if it falls with in the limits of what the truck is rated for.

Nissan and Toyota have come a long way in their trucks.  Their V8 engines put out plenty of power. But they are still 1/2 ton trucks better suited to towing lighter trailers. Your best advice is to get the trailered weighed.

Your truck can pull more than it can carry. I have a friend who is a mechanic at a Nissan dealership. When asked about real world experiences using these trucks for work, he has stated, that his store room contains several rear axle assemblies, that have failed and had since been replaced. Under warranty they are replaced as a unit, instead of, an on condition rebuild.

I didn't ask particulars such as years, gear ratios, options etc.

Thanks, boy do you have the interesting horses! I will look at my book to be sure. Just looking at your signature;)I have an arab, a saddlebred, a half arab, a welsh cross pony and a mini, I guess I have a reasonably interesting assortment too;). A neighbor commented, 'around here all you see is AQHA's in the paddocks, I drive your place and none of them looks the same;)'

I have a neighbor that had a similar experience with his Toyota Tundra. Was up hunting in snow, So he threw a set of chains on the tires. Ruined his axle.  The mechanic told him they just were not designed to handle that much torque and stress of the extra traction the chains provided.
