We're thinking of moving to KY.. have several places picked out to look at next week. they all look promising but I want to be near the best trail riding possible! Does anyone know of decent trails near Columbia KY? thanks

Tons of great riding in KY. Near Columbia would be Green River, and a slightly longer haul will get you to Dale Hollow, Mammoth Cave, Barren River, Long C near Scottsville, and TONS of places within the Daniel Boone Natl Forest & Big South Fork.

we're looking at property right next to Mammoth Cave and also land in Columbia. I like them both (at least from the pictures) but want to be near someplace I can just trailer to in less than 20 min.

There are three camps at Mammoth Cave...Double J Sables, D bar K, and Mammoth Cave Stables. Double L and MC both have direct trail access. D bar K is a little ways down the road from the trail head
MC stables is the newest. The trails on that side of the park are the most challenging.
We prefer Double J. It is an older camp and had fallen into disrepair but is under new management and they are making improvements. IMO, Double J has access to the best trails. You will have to ride out the same one mile stretch of old logging road (known as Collie Ridge) each day but the road takes you to a "hub" where you can choose from several different trails. Three trails that drop down into the woods in different directions or you can continue down the logging road.
