Its time to replace the original tires on our 2 horse bumper pull trailer. The trailer came with Goodyear Marathon trailer tires. Tires are 7 years old. Plenty of tread but starting to dry rot.My inclination is to replace our tires with Goodyear, as that was the original equipment. Also the trailer manufacturer is still equipping all their new trailers with Goodyear tires. However, the local tire dealer is trying to persuade us to purchase Carlisle instead. The tire dealer stated that the Goodyear tires are being manufactured in China and there has been incidences of tire separations. I asked them about Carlisle tires having separation issues. The tire dealer told me that Carlisle had problems in the past, but now, they are a pretty good tire.Is there any truth to what the tire dealer is telling me about Carlisle vs. Goodyear tires? There is about a $100 difference in price.Thank you for opinions/recommendations.

Under no circumstances would I choose a Carlisle tire over a Good Year or most other American brands. You only have to search this forum, for the constant problems related to the various Chinese tire brands, with the Carlise being most often negatively mentioned.
There are good ST and LT tires being built under the American brands that are made out of the country. Their specifications are such that our driving equipment, habits and their good names are considered when the construction details are chosen. There are American brands built in the states, that have enjoyed excellent reputations.
You have many choices of tire constructions and sizes. You've had excellent service with the original tires. Why not stay with a proven product? Is it worth $100 to endure a blow out during a trip? Or multiple failures? Have you heard of a positive mention of the long term longevity of Carlisle tires?
