I am looking at a Mohawk horse trailer.  The only info I can find on it is that it was made in Mt. vernon Oh.  No phone number or other listing.  It has a fiberglass top, with rounded front horse trailer style fiberglass nose top.(not cargo style)  It looks like the nose or complete top might have to be replaced.  I know that many of the steel trailers have a mfg. co that stamps or presses the rounded nose top for them, but I figure most trailer co. that make fiber glass tops have a mold and is unique to their trailer. This trailer is wider than most trailers so that makes it hard.  Is there any trailer mfg. co. that use a fiberglass top that could be fitted to this trailer, or even a steel nose top, could probably be fitted? I know that the top of a trailer is exposed to alot of elements and not usually washed or waxed. I was wondering how this silver brush or roll on roof coating (consisty of thick paint) like the use on travel trailers would work to help portect and restore a fiberglass top?

Fiberglass is easy to work with and a fairly inexpensive product to purchase. Depending on what is wrong with the cap, it might be easier to rebuild the existing part instead of replacing it. Many time the original part can be made again serviceable with additional layers of glass and resin. The original part becomes a male mold and supports the new product until the resin hardens. The new area is then sanded smooth and surfaced, and when finished, can look better than the factory OEM part.

Fiberglass is damaged by UV rays. Its not if it will be damaged, but when. This will depend on how it was constructed. The better roofs have a gell coating, some do not. Any fiberglass roof may be improved by adding a coating. A good quality paint,(marine and aircraft are the best), or an elastomeric coating, will go a long way to protecting the roof from the sunlight. Do not use any asphalt based mobile roof coatings.
