Has anyone had experience with Leonard Truck and Trailer near Youngstown, OH? I'm talking to them about a used trailer and it's like pulling teeth to get them to reply to my questions.

The sales dept can be difficult to deal with. The management team is first rate. They seem to be two different entities working under the same roof. Try asking to speak with a sales manager, instead of just whomever answers the phone.

Horrible customer service! I bought a used Sundowner 4 horse slant 2 years ago and will never go back!! I talked to a salesman over the phone about the trail (I had seen it on their website) and asked tons of questions about the trailer before I made the 4 hr drive to go see it. Either he was to lazy to go check or was just telling me what I wanted to hear. Once I got there and checked out the trailer I was mildly disappointed but not enough to scare me away from the sale. Trailer had no saddle rack (which he said it did) and the flooring ran across from fender well to fender well instead of with the trailer (nose to rear doors), crap tires that he said were new... he lied about all of it or was to lazy to check. I still liked the trailer and brought cash with me and he would not come down on price whatsoever.. again no big deal. After we signed the paper work he completely ditched us. Keys to windows and tack room could not be found and instead of just throwing in a lock set (a whopping $15) and sending us on our way, we waited over 2 hours while someone tried to "make" us one and hook up our trailer for us... Finally got fed up and said we were leaving. Girls chases us down in the parking lot with key that was stuck in the bottom of folder! lol 2 hours wasted waiting, thanks guys, I now get to drive through Akron in rush hour traffic.
Got the trailer home, got it loaded up with tack and ready to haul... rains overnight. Both the tack and horse compartment leaked. Not just a little, everything is drenched! Tack, matress, stall shavings, EVERYTHING. Once again, no help from customer service! The flooring is going to have to be replaced this year which is no big deal but it says in the paper work that it was "new". I understand its a used trailer but dang!
I have also ran into a few others that have bought new trailers from them from different brands over the years. One has a weekender that has leaked since day one and is now moldy inside. Leonard wont help them out at all (even though its under warranty). And they have had to take legal action. The other had to be left at the shop from day one because they started home and had to go back because of the way it was hauling... bent axles. Buyer beware, you may get lucky with a good trailer but if anything goes wrong with it, they will not stand behind the products they sell!
