Ok, the pin that goes through the bottom of the ramp is working itself out. The problem is we can't get it back in even when using a lubricant and a mallot. It's sticking out about three inches, any suggestions? Maybe more lubricant and working the ramp up and down?

I moved one back in about 2" on a 2006 Hawk for a friend of mine just this morning.... Close the ramp to take the binding spring forces off and smack it about five time with a 10# sledge hammer... Leave that mallot in the kitchen to crack the walnuts...!!!

An alternate way to reset the pin is to try using a large "C" clamp, by first coating the pin with automotive ATF and then squeezing it back into place. Sometimes hammering on the pin can damage the fitting, especially when you're a poor aim like me.

On my GORE trailer, there are flat washers welded to each end of the hinge pins, side and rear ramp. 4 Star has the last hole in the end of the hinge welded up on both ramps. The Silver Star has the same setup as the Sundowners. Last hinge is slippped in place and bolted up, blind hole in this last hinge on each end. Ramps on the flat bed trailer have 3/8" bolt holes cross drilled through the pin, bolt keeps the pin from shifting side to side.

Sometimes a loose pin can be "staked" to prevent it from working out. Once the pin is in place, use a centering punch and a hammer to indent the casting's boss onto the end of the pin. This will prevent any future end play of the pin.
