Does anyone have any opinions on these for use in the LQ's?  I have seen them advertised and wonder if they are a good idea?

I looked into them as well a few years back when our tank water heater failed. But at $700 I'll just keep doing what I've been doing. It takes thinking ahead but, we don't leave the water heater on all the time. It only takes about 30 minutes for the water heater to heat up.

Take a look at sportsmansguide.com and search for tankless water heater. There are two different sizes. We have the smaller one in the barn to heat water for washing in winter. The larger would be better but the smaller one would work for showers. PDGx

I have had two electric on demand water heaters. They worked great the only down side was if you were primitive camping. They also pull plenty of current. Better turn off the ac if you are hooked to a 30 amp breaker.

I have a propane fired tankless in my weekender. It was $149 from camping world and all you add is a water source and any size of propane canister. I prefer to use the little one.

I have the Eccotemp, which is probably the same one brushycreek is mentioning. Got mine at Cmping World as well. It's awesome! Never had any issues with it. Works great!

I found a Bosch one - and it will work.  It is electric. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=bosch+electric+tankless+water+heater&hl=en&prmd=ivns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1280&bih=852&wrapid=tlif131108828331210&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=7475524284259096858&sa=X&ei=JKAlTui2OIXPgAfcvqzvBQ&ved=0CGsQ8wIwAg#

After reading about the gas ones, do you use them inside the LQ?

My weekender is a cowboy shower in the first stall. A lot of folks wrote reviews on this propane water heater and said they are replacing their RV water heaters with them instead of the OEM Dometic or Surburban. They say they like them much better. When my big LQ needed a new water heater recently, I did consider it. But, due to the high value of the trailer, I decided to keep it exactly as it was and paid $1000 for a new OEM replacement.

I have installed around 30 Rinnina's in homes and they have performed flawlessley. I can purchase a smaller unit for around $500 that will still run three or four horse trailers. If ours ever goes out it will be replaced with one.

The only use I have found for an electric on demand unit would be at the point of use where you have a long run from your main hot water supply.  It would take a pretty large electric unit and generator to supply enough hot water even for a shower.

Have a look here,

Ecotemp @ amazon.com

http://www.amazon.com/Eccotemp-L5-Portable-Camp-Shower/dp/B00388PME...

solid customer service they call you back, are helpful, you can permanent mount it if you want, and this thing gets rave reviews, I have used one and am ordering one on next payday for my new 1st stall shower
