I just bought a 99 Sooner and the spare tire mount has me stumped. I've never seen one like it on any of my other trailers. It has the shelf to set the spare on but behind it is what appears to be a vertical pin slot welded to the frame. Any one know what I need to get to make it work? Thanks!!

There should be a rod with a 90 degree bend in it. The horizontal section is threaded. The threaded end goes through the tire lug nut hole and a lug nut holds the tire to the trailer wall. The verticle slot allows the rod to adjust to the tire.

You can find the threaded replacement rods at automotive wrecking yards. They hold the spare tire into the wheel well, and often are discarded when the car is scrapped. Look around for the matching lug nut that was removed when the spare was sold. It is usually thrown into the trunk area.
